If you were a bird, what bird would you be?

I have been asking people "If you were a bird, what bird would you be? And why?" This is a collaborative project with my brother, Ari. Here's a link to his blogs: https://arikaijuprojects.blogspot.com/ and loveofbugs.blogspot.com

If I was a bird...I would be a Bowerbird. They are genius builders who can spend years expertly crafting structures to attract mates. I have loved working on our house for some 15 years. Collecting and building things to entertain my family has been lots of fun. I often forage for found and reclaimed materials in renovating our home. Someday I’ll learn to dance as well as a Bowerbird as they often dance around their amazing architecture.

If I was a bird...I would be a Turkey Vulture. I have recently imagined myself as a shape shifter with a Turkey Vulture as one of my many forms. Their lives seem similar to mine as I am VERY active. They are flying and gliding most of the time coming to the ground to eat, drink and sleep. I care about Environmental issues. Turkey Vultures contribute to the ecological systems by eating rotting meat that would otherwise contaminate water and soil.

If I was a bird...I would be an Albatross. They spend most of their lives on the water and only come to land a few times during their lives. I have anxiety, depression, and ocd and being in or around water helps me feel present in my body. When albatross land, they often tumble epically and I am fairly clumsy. I like the idea of nature creating such silliness.

Update 6.21.23: After spending more time at the Lake, I want to be a gull or a tern. Watching the gulls ride the wind, hovering overhead looks so satisfying. Also, I like that gulls are so common that they blend into the background. People tend not to bother them and they even get a steady diet of fries and pizza. I think being a gull at Rainbow Beach would be a nice life.

If I were a bird... actually, I'm not sure which bird I would be. But I do know that I think it would be cool to fly like a Merlin. Other reasons I would like to be a Merlin are that they're a little harder to find, not the flashiest bird in the world, and I'd like to hunt like them, perching in a tree, then swooping to grab a spooked bird from midair. I'd also like to mimic like a Northern Mockingbird or something from that family.
