3.29.23 American Woodcock! and Chicago River, Chicago. IL

I saw an injured American woodcock on Roosevelt and Jefferson in Chicago. My brother named it "Woodtrice"

I saw it crash land in the street, but thankfully someone saw it and went around it. It then flew into the side of a building behind the car.

We connected to and gave them to the Chicago Bird Collision Monitors . They recommend not handling the bird more than necessary, in case they are injured.
The Northern Cardinal is one of a few types of cardinal. The other species live mostly in South America.
