Downy woodpeckers are smaller than and have shorter beaks than Hairy Woodpeckers, and have spots along the white part of the side of their tails. |

This was the first time we saw a Golden-crowned Kinglet, so we were excited to see one. |
We were surprised at how small they are, being only 3-4 in long with their tails. |
We saw some in a tree before leaving to go to Izaak Walton, then saw this Golden-crowned Kinglet |
hopping around.

This was probably the first time we saw a Pied-billed Grebe! |
You can tell this is a Pied-billed Grebe by the brown body (no other kind of grebe here is brown) and the grey beak with a black stripe. |
We saw these Blue-winged Teals near a Great Blue Heron, swimming around doing duck stuff. |
I thought they might be Gadwall, but upon closer inspection, I noticed they weren't. |
