5.14.23 Park 566, Chicago, IL Part II

This area seems to be a rookery for Black-crowned Night-Herons and Tree and Northern Rough-winged Swallows. We walked through several plumes of gnats. Seemingly what the swallows were feeding on.

Common Yellowthroat

Common Yellowthroats, being small, edible warblers, are eaten by many things, like the usual suspects, Merlin and Loggerhead Shrikes, but also by ...weirder things, like Chuck-will's-widows (who usally eat insects!) and Largemouth Bass (who are FISH).
