5.31.23 Sherman Park, Chicago, IL

I saw a Ebird report from about a week before I had seen it with big Red-shouldered Hawk chicks in a nest near Sherman Park, so we decided to try to see them. Lucky for us, the chicks had only just fledged and were hanging out in the trees in the area around the nest, being VERY loud. They were just calling and calling for their parents to feed them. We did see the parents come and feed the chicks, but the parents didn't stick around. There were also lots of Canada Geese and their goslings just about everywhere.

This is part of a series we are continuing of these Red-shouldered Hawks and their family. See information about our observations and a list of all of the posts on the Red Shoulder Project page.

I'm not sure what this Red-shouldered Hawk fledgling was doing, but they seemed very intent on looking in this hole.
