GREAT BLUE HERON BABIES!!! Anne remembered that great blue herons were nesting in the trees at Oak Woods Cemetery, so we decided to see if the eggs had hatched yet...and they have! It was difficult to spot the babies in the nest because they were all so still. But then an adult brought food and then it was REALLY easy to see them and to hear them. They were so loud and active. Birds are totally dinosaurs.

At first, we saw the chicks and thought they were adults, but then the adult Great Blue Herons landed and started feeding them!

Great Blue Heron nestlings look like dinosaurs

The chicks were screaming at each other and their parents for food.

Great Blue Heron chicks sound just as weird as their parents, maybe even a bit weirder.

At one point, this parent poofed up.

Really, LOOK at this dinosaur.

Green Heron

This Green Heron was fishing, but I think they were a little inexperienced or younger, as they were looking unsure of themselves.
