It was hot and sunny at Northerly Island today, and as a place with barely any shade, we started sweating quite quickly. We saw lots of Song and Savannah Sparrows, American Goldfinches, and a Eastern Kingbird on a fence. We might not have seen any new birds, but we saw common birds doing new things. Canada Geese bathing and fighting in a large group, a Herring Gull on the post that is supposed to be for falcons, and Ring-billed Gulls hovering, swooping, diving, and fishing for crayfish in the inlet from the lake to the pond at Northerly.
