We drove back to the Chicago Botanic Gardens in search of the elucive Limpkin and we FINALLY saw it. Anne spotted it first, standing so still next to a log; it was difficult to discern it from the log. Anne and Ima walked around a bit and when they came back they saw the Limpkin out and hunting. It found a giant mussel. It looked maybe 10 inches wide and very heavy. We didn't even realize there were mussels like that in the area or that a Limpkin could pick up such a big one. Limpkins average 2-3 pounds and the mussel it found looked at least a pound, probably more.
