10.31.24 No Name Rest Area, Colorado (California trip Day 3)

From 10.29.24-11.6.24 my father, brother and I drove from Chicago to San Diego and back. This is part of Day 3.

See all of the California trip posts at the California trip 2024 page.

This rest area might not have a name, but it was filled with birds! There were about 4 Black-billed Magpies in the parking lot looking for food that people dropped. They were being very friendly! (probably because they wanted our lunch...) A Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay flew past us as we were trying to find a Townsend's Solitaire we kept hearing. We found the Solitaire perched on a small stick, and it stayed for a few minutes before flying away. The views of the mountains from here were beautiful!
