11.2.24 El Cajon Courthouse, El Cajon, CA

From 10.29.24-11.6.24 my father, brother and I drove from Chicago to San Diego and back. This is part of Day 5.

See all of the California trip posts at the California trip 2024 page.

I found this parrot roost on eBird, on the drive to California. Since we were nearby, we checked it out. There are SO MANY parrots here! We came in the evening, as they were flying in to roost for the night, and it was so loud! I took a video to show how loud they were, and if you want to truly experience how loud they were, you need to turn the sound up nearly all the way! This is not a naturally occurring flock of parrots. They were originally people's pets who got released into the wild, likely because the owners weren't able to care for them anymore.
