Please be aware, this post has content of the Red-shouldered Hawk with prey.
This is part of a continuing series about these Red-shouldered Hawks and their family. See information about our observations and a list of all of the posts on the Red Shoulder Project page.
When we arrived at the nest site, Ruby (the female) was on the nest. Red (the male) was on a nearby air conditioner on the same building (scroll to bottom of this page). Red flew out and caught a European Starling. He returned, calling, and Ruby left the nest to accept the food. Ruby ate the Starling while Red stayed on the nest. This behavior suggests there are eggs in the nest and they are trading incubation shifts.
