We live near the no-longer-bubbling Bubbly Creek part of the South Branch Chicago River (which was bubbling because blood and entrails were dumped in there from the Stockyards and were decomposing). This part of the South Branch at Park 571 is cultivating floating islands for native plants, native plant gardens, kayaking, etc. We do water sampling here for runoff levels in the winter. We enjoyed the last brisk days before winter's arrival.
Happy Halloween!
