The smoke from the wildfires in Canada have settled over Chicago giving it an AQI (Air Quality Index) of over 900 at one point this day and over 1100 in Duluth, MN (data from AirNow.gov). An AQI of over 300 is considered emergency conditions. We could still smell the smoke through the KN95 masks we were wearing. Also see this article from the American Lung Association.
