We've been planning to go to a bird banding for a while, and we finally got to go to one! Although we've been to a Peregrine Falcon banding before, this was a very different experience! Thanks to L for letting us join and demystifying thrush id's! It was amazing to see these birds up close and watch the process of banding a bird. Seeing mist nets was definitely really cool, and if I hadn't been walking slow and watching for them, I might have gotten caught too! Especially since my eyesight isn't great, I couldn't even see the mist nets until I was close to them! We also watched two young Ruby-throated Hummingbirds fighting near the feeders. They were so fast, I couldn't get any pictures until they landed to rest or refuel for more chasing! I was super close to one of them when it landed on a hummingbird feeder right next to me! We think they might have been siblings, because they seemed about the same age, and Hummingbirds breed at Sagawau.
