This page is about something my family and I call "The Line" or "The Sandhill Crane Route". It's a line of nature preserves that are in a line that Sandhill Cranes follow. We discovered it by accident, when we noticed that Necedah National Wildlife Refuge in Juneau County, Wisconsin, Muirhead Springs Forest Preserve, in Kane County, Illinois, and Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area on the border of Jasper and Pulaski Counties, Indiana, formed a perfect line, on which Sandhill Cranes travel! Once we realized this (with the help of Google Maps, of course), we just kept finding more places on this "Line"! This photo will be pretty constantly updated with new places, so check back every once in a while. I hope this encourages you to look for Sandhill and Whooping Cranes! They are amazing creatures.
Here's more information about Sandhill Cranes and migration paths from the International Crane Foundation.
